WHAT SETS US APART FROM THE OTHERS

Features of Our Chicken Tractors

Our sleek original designs give you everything you need for a secure convenient backyard operation.

EZ-Lift System

EZ-lift system for easy movement—The Egg Cart’n Classic raises onto four wheels, latches in place, and rolls easily over grass. The EZ-lift system sets the Egg Cart’n apart from other chicken tractors of similar size. Foam-filled tires ensure you’ll never have a flat.

Ramp and Flooring

The ramp can be raised for protection from night predators, lowered for grazing access, and removed for cleaning. The perforated floor allows for easy cleanup.

Nest Boxes

The double nest box provides a convenient place for the chickens to lay their eggs, and for you to collect them. The round openings encourage the chickens not to spend unnecessary time there.

Collecting Eggs

Easily retrieve your eggs from nesting boxes through the sliding door.

Roost

The roost provides comfort and safety for your backyard chicken.

Feed & Water

The feeder and watering bucket hang conveniently from the dedicated hanging brackets.

Sliding Gate

The sliding gate allows the chickens to enjoy free-range access to your yard, whenever you wish for it.

Weather Skirting

The included corrugated plastic skirting can be snapped on to protect chickens during cold weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where Do You Put a Feeder and Watering Bucket?

The Egg Cart’n is ingeniously designed to make watering and feeding convenient and stress-free. The Egg Cart’n includes two brackets on the ceiling —one for hanging the included feeder and the other for hanging the included watering bucket.

What Kind of Bedding Do You Recommend for the Nest Boxes?

Our favorite bedding to use in these nest boxes is unscented kitty litter. It helps dry up moisture, and its texture deters chickens from playing in it as much as they would in straw. Straw and grass clippings also work well.

Is the Egg Cart’n Suitable in Any Climate?

The Egg Cart’n is designed to be suitable in virtually any climate. Chickens can survive heat if they have enough water and ventilation. However, if you live in a cold climate, you will need to be more proactive. With all the panels installed, chickens should be fine in below-freezing temperatures. It can help to move the Egg Cart’n behind a windbreak if it is frigid and windy. In freezing northern climates, some supplemental heat may be needed. Alternatively, you can move your chicken tractor into a garage or shed during the coldest part of the winter.

How often do you recommend cleaning the coop?

The Egg Cart’n includes a perforated floor that cuts down the number of times cleaning is needed. However, every month or two, you may need to scrape out residual droppings that have built up over time. It is also essential to clean and disinfect the tractor between flocks. You can easily do this with a hose and brush.

Does the Egg Cart’n work for any animals besides chickens?

Yes. People have used the Egg Cart’n for rabbits and puppies, and it would probably work for other small animals.

What is the white material used for the panels, skirting, and doors?

We’ve specially-selected 10-millimeter corrugated plastic for a sturdy and lightweight material, including a UV inhibitor to retard breakdown in sunlight.

How long does shipping take and what is the cost?

Shipping takes about four to seven business days for most locations, and is free in the continental United States.

Is the Egg Cart’n too heavy to move easily?

No. The Egg Cart’n is designed to be stress-free and lightweight for ease of transport. This is made possible because of the aluminum frames, making the Egg Cart’n lighter than it looks. The wheels also aid in this process by being big enough to roll over grass easily.

How often should the coop be moved?

We recommend the daily move for full-sized flocks of eight to ten chickens. However, the frequency of moving depends on how many chickens are in the tractor and the quality of the turf they are grazing. The more chickens there are per square foot, the more often the pen will need to be moved to prevent damage to the turf.

Is the Egg Cart’n predator-proof?

Nearly. It is predator-resistant, meaning it is resistant to predators, but it takes some proactivity on your part. The daily move and locking the chickens upstairs at night by raising the ramp makes it virtually impossible for small predators to attack the chickens. Snakes could be an issue in some locations, and bears could be an issue in others, but we have been well pleased with the predator protection the Egg Cart’n provides.

Worth every penny! The quality is outstanding. I can easily maneuver both my Classic and Chalet around my hilly/rocky property by myself. The Chalet is a bit tougher to fit around tree branches, but worth it for my chickens who like to roost. Predator-proof – we haven’t lost one bird in 4 years living next to hundreds of wild acres with bears, coyotes, hawks+. Egg Cart’n coops are also warm in winter, cool in summer, and easy to keep clean to avoid vermin – I’m extremely grateful for my very happy/healthy ladies and naturally fertilized yard!

Love this coop and this company! We got the chalet and my 8 chickens and I are very happy. We had the benefit of having a neighbor with a chalet they have owned and loved for 10 years, so it came highly recommended and I was able to test it out before purchasing and see that it will be an investment that will last. I initially hesitated cause of price to be honest, but after wasting my time and effort on another brand of coop I knew I wouldn’t be happy with anything else. No regrets! The shipping was quick, directions pretty clear, and installation was easy enough. Super high quality materials. Getting the tractor moving is quick and easy to manage solo. It really is a great family coop as it is very accessible for my kids – but everything can be locked down to prevent toddlers or predators from getting to the chickens. My kids wish they could fit underneath to hang with the birds, but it’s probably a good thing they can’t. The locks in the doors being a bit finicky to get the keys in is probably my biggest complaint, and it’s a minor one. They really have thought this coop out. Customer service was also top notch! I love how the coop looks, I love how it hoses down to clean easily, and I’m super excited to see what else the company comes out with in the future (hoping for an attached run!).

We purchased our Chalet this year after doing a ton of research. We are first time chicken owners and really wanted something that fit our family homestead lifestyle. We were looking for something durable with the different seasons we have where we live, ease of cleanliness, and mobility. We were very impressed with how the kit came packed on the pallet and the ease of ordering. Our chickens love their coop and so do we! We can’t believe how easy it is to clean out with just our hose every so often. Everything is built very well and engineered to last for the long haul. Moving the Chalet is extremely easy and the hardware is made well coated for protection. Our Chalet is kid friendly – our kids love helping with everything and adjusting side panels you want on or off for different seasons or different times of the day is a breeze to adjust. Truly mean this when I say how I very rarely leave reviews, but this company deserves our two thumbs up and our appreciation how great this product is and how great their customer service has been from day one when we ordered the Chalet to present day when ordering accessories. I tell everyone about our Chalet every chance we get!

I have now purchases 4 of the Chalet coops for me and my adult children. The Chalet is the perfect coop for urban chickens. Easy to put together, sturdy construction, easy to move across the lawn. One of my sons bought a second coop from a local farm supply store and it fell apart within a month, made in China. He then asked me for another Chalet! Good product, Good people..

Thanks for your loyalty, Dan! It means the world to us!
